The scope of this incident is evident as it implicated millions of consumers worldwide. However, people do not realize that the theft and misuse of their information could lead to a global threat and hence many other organizations and companies have been affected. While we were looking over the figures we found that $1 billion loss was incurred each year by governmental agencies due to data breach. Majority of these attacks occur because of human error, with most companies having lax security measures which can be easily breached by hackers. Cyber crime has been a looming issue since its discovery, but its consequences are very much pronounced now, especially with the presence of new hardware and software coming out every day. While hackers are working to breach security for their own reasons, organizations are also trying to reach their goals at the expense of others. The matter is further complicated by the fact that most countries have not agreed on any kind of legislation to counter cyber crimes.
